It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ann Mitchell on February 7, 2026 at age 83. Ann was the daughter of Harold and Thelma Mitchell. She was born in Virden, Manitoba, Canada on July 11, 1942.
Ann was truly loved by her sister Gail Kellough, brother Bill Mitchell, brother-in-law Ken Burroughs, nephews: Trevor Reid, Myles Mitchell, Mark Mitchell, nieces Kara Sutherland, Kelly Cooper, Rebecca Mitchell, Sarah Mitchell and all their respective families. She is predeceased by her brother Vern Mitchell, and nephew Doran Reid.
Ann was born and lived in Virden, Manitoba until her late teens. While in high school in Virden, Ann was very active in figureskating along with her sister Gail. They participated in many figure skating festivals over the years.
Ann took secretarial training in Winnipeg and started working for a business firm there. In the early 1960’s she was chosen to take training in Minneapolis, MN on computer programming. She was thus working in the field of computer programming in its very early stages. Ann’s early training in Cobalt computer language led to a long future in the computer world.
She and a friend went on holiday together to Miami Florida in the early 60’s. They liked it so much that they made plans to move there. She worked in the computer technology industry for the airlines for many years in Miami.
After 20 years, Ann drove cross country in 1981 to begin her life in Redondo Beach, California, where she lived until illness changed her life drastically in 2019.
She had a varied and vibrant life, with many loving and loyal friends over the years. She lived for a number of years with her boyfriend Gene Aurand, his son Jason Aurand and her beloved dog, Peppy.
Ann enjoyed spending time with her many friends and family. Family and friends have enjoyed visiting Ann in California. Ann always had the biggest smile and wonderful laugh that made everyone around her feel truly special! She will be deeply missed!

Here are a few pictures when Ann and The Grampas (Bill and Ken) stayed with us in Montreal in July 2005.
Much love,

We had so many laughs with Ann on her visits, but my fondest memories were from a trip Gail and I made to Redondo Beach over Christmas and New Years 1990-91. I know many enjoyed Ann’s hospitality over the years, but I felt she truly went out of her way to make our holiday special. I loved the Lakers’ jersey she gave me for Christmas, the trip to the comedy club to see Jay Leno, the toodling on Rodeo Drive in L.A., and the driving along that gorgeous coast – in her totally cool car!
I have just one wee anecdote: Before going out on New Years Eve, we decided we were going to have our nails done so each of us had false nails put on. This was back in the day when we all smoked and sure enough, Gail lit a fingernail on fire lighting a cigarette and didn’t even know it (no harm done). Ann came to the rescue…of both her sister and the ‘condo in Redondo,’ and we laughed and laughed.
And the laughing with Ann is what I remember most.
RIP, luv❤️
I’m going to share some photos from that trip. I know they’re old and fuzzy, but they’re dear to me.
Bill & Ken,
So Glad we all got to celebrate your 65th Birthday at the Park, with Ann and Gail, and Friends.
May Ann rest in Peace, sending my Deepest Con condolences
