Ewell graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1961, and married his childhood sweetheart, Betsy Beatty, on June 22, 1961 in Lewisburg TN.
Ewell and his family migrated to Arizona in 1967 where he enjoyed a long career as a respected financial advisor, and was a familiar face to many in the 70s, as the financial expert who gave the stock market report on KTAR’s 5 o’clock news. Ewell is known for his integrity, generosity, and celebratory nature that brought joy to many occasions. He’s been an avid golfer and loyal sports fan – especially the Suns and Diamondbacks.
He served diligently as Chairman of the Elders at St. Barnabas & All Saints Episcopal Church as well as Living Streams Christian Church. Ewell’s heart for those struggling led him to support the Phoenix Rescue Mission, World Vision, and the Crisis Nursery, among others.
His Celebration of Life service is being held on Saturday, September 12th, 2026 – 10 AM at Living Streams Christian Church – 7000 N. Central in Phoenix. In lieu of flowers donations to the Phoenix Rescue mission would be appreciated.
