Dolores Jean Brown, 85, of Haubstadt, Indiana, passed away on September 2, 2026, at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center in Newburgh, Indiana. She was born on August 13, 1941, in East Chicago, Indiana, to the late LaVern and Lois (Johnson) Biggerstaff.

Together, Dolores and Paul “Fred” Brown raised three children. She worked for Lever Brothers in Hammond, Indiana for several years before acquiring the Brass Ring Tavern in Haubstadt, Indiana and Haubstadt Pizza Works & Video, which she owned and operated for 12 years.

Dolores thoroughly enjoyed tending to her flowers and plants, decorating and renovating her home, spending quiet hours reading, and watching Wheel of Fortune. She was a humble, independent and resourceful woman, who had a gift for transforming a house into a home and finding beauty and potential in everything around her. Above all, she treasured her family and the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. Her kindness, humility, strength, resilience, and love will be remembered always by those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Paul Biggerstaff.

Dolores is survived by her loving husband, Fred Brown of Haubstadt, Indiana. They shared more than six decades of love, family, and memories together; her children, Lisa Brown of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Paul Brown Jr. of Haubstadt, Indiana, and Jennifer (Marc) Richards of Santa Claus, Indiana; and five grandchildren: Ryan Brown-Ross, Savanna Brown, Alex Richards, Sydney (Jacob) Klueh, and Nathan Richards. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Honor Dolores’s legacy.
