Suzanne Fox, 89, of Long Beach, California passed away peacefully in her home of natural causes on January 5th, 2026.  Suzanne was a beloved and devoted wife to Stanley Fox, a loving mother of two sons, Steven and Scott Fox, a warmhearted “Nana” to her grandchildren Kailey, Michael, and Danny, and a faithful sister to Sandy, Shana, and Lynn (cousin but still considered a sister). The four sisters maintained an extremely close bond. Even in her final days she spoke to them and of them often.  Her family meant the world to her!

Suzanne was raised in Artesia, California and graduated from Excelsior High School.  She went on to work at Pacific Telephone Company in Los Angeles. One weekend while visiting the beach with friends, she met a lifeguard named Stanley Fox. After a short courtship they married on September 5th, 1959 and settled in Long Beach, California where she became a dedicated housewife and supportive mother for her family. Stanley and Suzanne lived in their home for over 60 years where she learned how to paint and became an avid oil painter, with many of her paintings still hanging in friends’ and relatives’ homes.  She loved camping at the local State Parks and spending time at the beach. Suzanne also enjoyed excursions to Las Vegas to visit Stanley’s family while finding a little time to test her luck on the casino slot machines.  When not supporting her family she volunteered her time as a teacher’s assistant, was her sons’ number one fan during basketball season, and loved to be the central point of contact with her family.  She relished knowing what her family was doing and hearing the stories of their adventures.

When the time came to move, both Stanley and Suzanne relocated to Whidbey Island in Washington to be closer to family.  There they experienced fresh Dungeness crab and salmon at regular family gatherings.  After Stanley’s passing in 2021, Suzanne helped with social events at Harbor Tower Village where she resided.  She always had candy ready to share with her fellow residents while displaying her paintings to them as well.

Suzanne spent her last years at Angell’s on Whidbey where she lived for two years before her passing on January 5th, 2026. She loved being treated like family at Angell’s and the care staff was truly amazing. She displayed her warmth and kindness everywhere she went and was truly loved by many.  She will be missed!

It was our honor to have met Mrs. Fox this summer while visiting Scott and Susan in Whidbey Island. We had heard so many things about her from her son Scott. We know how much she was loved and respected by Scott and Susan. RIP Mrs. Fox.

After Grandma Houston passed away we went to Grandma’s house. Aunt Suzy caught me admiring this painting. She asked if I liked it and I said I did. Aunt Suzy said she painted it for Grandma and she wanted me to have it. I have enjoyed it for about 30 years. It has always meant a lot to me. I think of Aunt Suzy every time I see her painting!! I love you Aunt Suzy❤️

Suzy’s passing leaves a quiet ache in my heart. She always greeted life with a warm smile and a grateful spirit, and she often told me how much my monthly letters over the past three years meant to her. I cherished our time together—sharing dinners with her and Stan in Long Beach and our annual visits in Washington. I will deeply miss her positive attitude and her genuine interest in every member of our family. Rest in peace, dear Suzy. Love, Bill

God has you in his keeping, I have you in my heart.
